We all need time out from our busy and rather stressful lives to indulge and rejuvenate and by giving yourself a pampering home spa is the perfect way to do it.

First, you need to create a calm, relaxing and inviting environment so you can enjoy your pampering in complete peace and comfort, just as you would if you went to any great spa.

Next, pick a time when you know there will be no-one else at home ( you want to have this time to nurture and get in touch with yourself again - this may be a spiritual time for some).  If you have children, ask your partner or a good friend if they can take them for a few hours, so you don't keep hopping out of the bath to check on them. 

Definitely take the phone off the hook and put your mobile on silent, and put on some relaxing music or simply just enjoy the quiet. ( those who are mother's probably just want the peace and quiet!)

Bathing is an essential part to the spa experience and has enormous health benefits.  It energizes you and gives you a calming and soothing effect, especially if you immense your whole body in the water, including your head.

To create the atmosphere of a luxury spa environment, light an oil burner and place a few drops of pure essential oils, or you can make your own special blend.  You can choose an oil such lavender, which has a calming and soothing effect.  Another great alternative is to light some candles, this will also create a soothing and relaxing ambiance.

Next, you can use a long-handled, natural bristle brush or loofah to lightly brush your skin.  The skin being the largest organ of the body is also responsible for one quarter of your daily detoxification,so by gently exfoliating your skin, you will be stimulating the lymphatic system which greatly improves your circulation.  Make sure your strokes are gentle, yet firm and even, and always stroke towards the heart.

If you prefer to use a body scrub instead, you can make your own with the following recipe.  Once you have applied the scrub, you may need to rinse off in a shower before climbing into your bath.

Best Pamper Scrub:

• 1/2 cup oil (sweet almond)

• 1 cup sea salt

• 5 - 8 drops essential oil (choose your favourite one, or alternatively try lemon or orange)

Mix the oil and salt in a bowl and then add the essential oil and combine well.  Apply to dry skin using circular strokes to exfoliate the skin, then shower off or follow with a warm bath. Enjoy!

• 1 cup of unscented bubble bath

To feel even more pampered, this would also be a great time to give your hair and face a nourishing treatment.  You can now pop on  your face mask, hop into your luxurious bubble bath and let the cares of the day float away. 

After your bath, rinse and dry off, then massage your favourite body lotion generously into your skin and you will feel like an exotic and pampered princess or goddess from head to toe.
